Founded in 1979, Women in Cable Telecommunications is a professional association serving nearly 5,000 industry professionals from across the country. WICT's mission is to develop women leaders who transform our industry. Membership is open to all women and men who are employed in a professional capacity in a facet of the cable and telecommunications industry or a closely related field.

The New York Chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications strives to help its members stay connected to one another and to the industry at large. The Chapter's most effective tool in achieving that goal is its line-up of popular programs and events for both members and non-members. A few examples:

Annual Membership Drive
WICT NY kicks off the New Year with a Membership Drive, a free event for current and potential members. The evening is filled with prizes, hors d'oeuvres, drinks and a fun and inviting atmosphere.

Executive Leadership Breakfast Series
The Executive Leadership Breakfast Series provides personal access to executive leaders in our industry within a small setting. Typically, the speaker will highlight his or her career path, followed by a Q&A session. This series provides insight to junior and senior members alike. Past speakers include Lauren Zalaznick (NBCU), Evan Shapiro (IFC & Sundance Channel), and Pearlena Igbokwe (Showtime).

Let's Talk Tuesdays
This interactive program provides an effective networking and learning forum between senior industry leaders and attendees. Topical discussions are facilitated around the event's subject matter, allowing individuals to interact with peers, share stories and experiences, and learn from others across many disciplines. Past discussion topics include Self-Development and The Art of Negotiating.

Wonder Woman Luncheon
In partnership with Multichannel News, WICT NY honors some of the best and brightest women in the industry with the annual Wonder Woman awards. Held every March in NYC, the event is both inspiring and insightful.

Seminar Series: Skills to Succeed
Skills To Succeed features senior-level leaders speaking on relevant industry topics. Subject matters may include personal branding, taking the fear out of budgeting, and personal and professional growth. This series will provide beneficial advice for junior and senior members.

PRIME|access
PRIME|access is WICT NY's executive mentoring program. The 8-month long program, which begins in the fall, is geared to meet the specific needs of the mid-level executive by matching 10-12 mentees one-on-one with senior-level mentors. Applications to become a mentee are available each August.

Executive Women's Luncheon
Every fall, WICT NY hosts one of its most popular events - the Executive Women's Luncheon. A panel of distinguished senior executives tackle a current issue facing the industry today. The 2010 Luncheon featured a keynote address from author and Today Show host, Hoda Kotb.

Holiday Party
‘Tis the season with the WICT NY Holiday Party, held annually in December. Members have the opportunity to win great prizes and experiences from companies throughout the industry while continuing to build their professional network.
